Hi! I’m Colin Williams (he/they), a writer, artist, educator, and music critic. I have a BA in English and German from Macalester College and an MFA in fiction writing from the University of Florida. I live in Pittsburgh with my partner and two bad cats.

As a journalist, I cover topics ranging from the heavy metal underground to Pittsburgh culture and daily news. As a creative writer, I focus on realism informed by social awareness and historical detail. My embroidery and other visual art focuses similarly on place and its connection to people’s lives.
I spent a decade working in arts education until moving into writing full-time. Positions at museums and nonprofits gave me extensive experience teaching, designing curricula, consulting with administrators, and marketing programs for teachers. Most recently, I worked at Arts Ed Collaborative (AEC), where I facilitated professional learning for educators, managed social media, designed AEC’s new website, wrote grants and more.
I currently direct The Incline, a daily digest of Pittsburgh-area news featuring local reporting and event listings. See my résumé or LinkedIn for a closer look at my previous experience.
